To ensure the ethical and transparent use of AI in academic work, follow a structured workflow integrated with your Learning Management System (LMS).

First, in the Ideation Phase, use AI to generate initial research directions with prompts like, “What are 5 under-explored angles on topic?” and document this as “AI-generated initial research questions.”

Next, for Research Assistance, employ AI to summarize complex sources by asking it to “Explain difficult concept in simple terms,” saving this as “AI-assisted comprehension of source.”

During the Writing Support phase, utilize AI for structuring your work, prompting it to “Help me structure an argument about…” and keeping an “AI-assisted outline creation” document. Finally, in Revision & Polish, use AI for grammar and clarity improvements with prompts such as, “Improve the readability of this paragraph,” and document this as “AI-assisted editing for clarity.” Crucially, integrate this process transparently within your LMS: leverage version history by drafting early and often in the LMS editor to track all changes, save incremental versions with process notes, and use annotation systems to comment on challenges, tag sections with sources, and maintain a “process journal” within the assignment document itself.
